Meet the Artists

A "Meet the Artists" section for your own website. Each artist appears with a round photo ringed in your brand colour, their name, where they are based, a short pull from their statement and a strip of their work. Everything clicks through to the artist's profile page. It uses your brand colour and fonts, so it looks like part of your site, and it updates itself as your roster changes.

Switching it on

1. Go to Artists and click Meet the Artists embed
2. Tick Widget is on
3. Choose which artists: everyone on your roster, or the artists in one show (for a "Meet the Artists of …" page)
4. Choose a layout: Rows (photo, name, statement, work) or Circles only (photos and names, good for a sidebar or footer)
5. Set how many work examples to show per artist and how long the statement excerpt should be, and add a heading if your page does not have one
6. Save, check the preview, then copy the snippet

All your artists, and one show's artists, at the same time

The artists you choose in the settings are the default. Under "Add it to your site", pick what a particular snippet should show: all active artists, or the artists in one show. The snippet then names that show (data-show="show-slug" on the script tag, ?show=show-slug on the iframe) and keeps showing it whatever the default is, so your Artists page can carry the whole roster while a show page carries "Meet the Artists of …". Use as many placements as you like.

Adding it to your site

The script snippet is the one to use. It renders the artists as part of your page: real links, your page's width, your colours and fonts. It works in a WordPress Custom HTML block, Squarespace and Wix code blocks, Webflow embeds and plain HTML. If your site builder strips scripts, use the iframe snippet instead; it shows the same widget inside a frame that sizes itself to the content.

Who appears

• Active artists only. Someone marked inactive drops off the widget
• By default, only artists who have a photo. The settings page tells you how many are hidden for that reason; the Completeness Center can remind them to add one
• Work examples come from the artist's own portfolio examples first, then their approved show work
• The excerpt is the artist statement, or the bio if there is no statement, cut at a word

While the widget is switched off, the snippet renders nothing on your site and the preview still works for you, so you can set it up before anyone sees it.
