Image Requirements & Best Practices
Supported formats, file sizes, resolution tips, and how thumbnail generation works.
Artwork Image Requirements
High-quality images are essential for presenting artwork effectively. Follow these guidelines for the best results.
Supported Formats
- JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg) — Best for photographs and detailed artwork
- PNG (.png) — Best for graphics or images with transparency
- WebP (.webp) — Modern format with excellent compression
File Size Limits
Maximum file size depends on your organization's plan. Typical limits range from 5 MB to 20 MB per image. If an upload fails, try reducing the file size or converting to JPEG with 85% quality.
Resolution Recommendations
- Minimum recommended: 1200 x 1200 pixels
- Ideal for detail views: 2000 x 2000 pixels or higher
- Avoid images smaller than 600 pixels on any side — they will appear blurry in the artwork grid
Thumbnail Generation
Art Show Hub automatically generates multiple sizes from your uploaded image:
- Thumbnail — Used in the artwork grid and search results
- Medium — Used in the quick-view overlay
- Full — Used on the artwork detail page
Multiple Images Per Artwork
Artists can upload multiple images per artwork to show different angles or details. The first image becomes the primary display image. Images can be reordered by dragging.
Tip: Photograph artwork in natural light against a neutral background. Crop tightly to the artwork edges for the cleanest presentation.
