Creating and Publishing a Call
Title and address, dates and fees, categories, questions, the text artists read, and what Publish does.
The call
Title and type (juried exhibition, open call, competition, public art and so on). The web address is suggested from the title with “call for artists” and the year in it, because that is what people search for; you can change it while the call is a draft, and it is fixed once published so no shared link breaks. Choose the show accepted work goes into, or none yet.
Dates
One deadline for everyone, in the timezone you pick; every artist sees it converted to their own time. Leave the deadline blank for a rolling call that stays open until you close it. A late deadline with a late fee is optional. “Results announced by” is shown to artists so they know when to expect news.
Entries and fees
Minimum and maximum pieces, entries per artist, the entry fee and what it covers, the price of each extra piece. Fees are paid by card straight into your own Stripe account (connect it under Settings, Payments). Set everything to 0 for a free call. You can also ask accepted artists to confirm their place within a number of days, allow video or audio links for time-based work, and add categories (2D, 3D, Photography...) that artists file each piece under.
Details artists read before applying
Description, eligibility, what to submit, awards, jurors, and terms artists must accept. Light formatting works: **bold**, *italic*, a line starting # for a heading, - for a bullet, and web addresses become links. A public-art call gets extra blocks for the site, budget, timeline, proposal contents and selection process.
Your questions
Every entry already asks for each piece’s image, title, medium, size, year and price, plus an artist statement. Add anything else: short or long answers, dropdowns, checkboxes, web links, an image upload (a headshot) or a file upload (a CV or PDF). Any question can be hidden from jurors.
Publish
Preview the page first (the link on the call page shows it exactly as artists will see it). Publish needs a description; everything else can be filled in later. Choose Public (listed on your calls page and in the directory) or Link only (anyone with the link can apply, nobody else sees it). Any invitations you prepared as a draft are emailed the moment you publish.
